DATA PRIVACY POLICY
We at Seqrd Technology Limited trading as Seqrd and SchoolsMobile (“Seqrd”, “we”, “us”, “our”, “SchoolsMobile”), care deeply about privacy, security, and online safety, all of which are a significant part of our essential mission: to protect users (“you” and “your” and “your child”) of our products and services from accessing inappropriate online content and to protect users from the risks of theft, disruption, and unauthorized access to their online data. For our service, we consider anyone under the age of 18 as a “child” and that as a parent/legal guardian you have the right to (i) consent to the use of our service on your child’s device and (ii) download our app on all relevant devices your child uses.
This privacy policy is designed to inform you about how we treat your data when you use our services, web-based or mobile applications (collectively), or when you interact with us.

We are registered with the ICO, registration number ZB350860. You have the right to make a complaint at any time to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection issues (http://www.ico.org.uk/). We would, however, appreciate the chance to deal with your concerns before you approach the ICO so please contact us if there is an issue. We endeavour to respond to all contact within one business day of receipt.
3. What kind of data do we collect?
Direct interaction data – we collect certain data when you create an account, request customer service, or otherwise communicate with us. At all stages, we collect the minimum data needed to allow us to create and provide a service to or for you.
When you choose to set up an account with us, so that we can provide our service, we ask you for:
- Parent/guardian contact information (such as name, email address, phone number and address)
- Account log-in credentials (username and password)
- Your child’s name (or child’s alias if you prefer) and year of birth
- Your child’s school (selected from a number of options)
- The type of device(s) that your child uses
- Your choice of policy for your child’s account, together with time limits
- Your choice of whether or not to receive marketing emails from us
We do not collect any child’s personal data by asking a child to directly provide information themselves. We will never ask your child to provide us with personal data.
We do not collect any financial data from you directly. All payments for our services are managed by third party service providers such as Stripe.
Data automatically processed as part of a SchoolsMobile service - For us to provide our service,, when you sign up to our service agreement, we automatically generate:
- a unique subscription ID number that is automatically generated when your trial licence is extended to a subscription licence
- a unique Stripe ID number that is automatically generated when your trial licence is extended to a subscription licence so that we can ensure payments are processed
In addition, when you upload our app onto your child’s device, you consent to us using a secure third party platform (NextDNS) to enable tracking technology on your child’s device, to collect limited information about your child’s online activity for the purpose of providing our service including:
- The time of any particular Internet activity;
- The main domain name of any particular Internet activity but not the specific URL (e.g. www.bbc.co.ukwould be collected if your child was accessing BBC’s Match of the Day or BBC Bitesize);
- Website queries (initiated and un-initiated) and the number of queries that are blocked or allowed by our app
We do not collect information about your child’s key strokes, search terms etc.
We do not collect any information from cookies about the way in which our website or our app is used.
NOTE: This data is not stored by us although we can access it under secure conditions. We use our access to this data to provide you with a dashboard linked to your child’s device showing the number of website queries (initiated and un-initiated) and the number of queries that are blocked or allowed by our app.
4. How we use your or your child’s data
We will use only your data where the law allows us to and in the following circumstances:
- To meet the contractual obligations and commitments we have made in our service provision to you,
- Where we have your specific consent,
- Where it is in our or your legitimate interests and we have assessed these objectively, or
- To comply with a legal obligation.
We may also use aggregated data. Providing aggregated data is effectively anonymised, we are permitted to analyse and use this data for the purpose of developing our business and providing safety insights as regards the use of devices.
The purposes for which we will use this data include:
- To help with protection: where you have installed the SchoolsMobile service on your child’s device, it runs in the background of the device to predict threats and protect your child. It will use data to:
- Analyse, isolate and identify threats, vulnerabilities, suspicious activity, spam, and attacks, and communicate with you or your child about potential threats;
- Check for service updates and create performance reports to ensure the protection aspects of the service are performing properly.
Change of Purpose
Any change to this policy will be advised to you in advance of the change taking effect.
5. Disclosures of your personal data
We may only disclose the data we collect to third party service providers who process the data on our behalf for the purposes set out above. We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal data and to treat it in accordance with the law.
We do not allow our third party service providers to use personal data for their own purposes and only permit them to process your personal data for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions.
These third parties include:
- our IT platforms (including Microsoft)
- our email management system (e.g. Mailchimp and Mailgun)
- hosting services providers such as threat intelligence database providers (including NextDNS);
- SMS alert systems such Twillo
We may also need to share data with third parties to whom we may choose to sell, transfer, or merge parts of our business. Alternatively, we may seek to acquire other businesses or merge with them. If a change happens to our business, then the new owners may use your personal data in the same way as set out in this privacy notice.
Where the school is paying for the service, we may share limited data with your child’s school only for the purpose of fulfilling our safeguarding service to the school and subject to a data protection impact assessment. This data may include:
- whether or not our service has been connected on a particular device;
- alerts where traffic is unusually low – indicating a child is circumventing our app;
- the extent to which a specified screen time limit is reached;
- the number of domains blocked and visited; and/or
- other limited data that we or the school considers is beneficial specifically for addressing the school’s safeguarding responsibilities to any child.
Other parties as you direct us, or as required by law.
6. Data sovereignty and international transfer
Certain of our third party service providers (Mailchimp and Stripe) operate globally and have contractual provisions in place to ensure that transfers of data outside the UK/EEA are performed in accordance with the UK data protection laws. We do not transfer any other data outside the UK.
7. How do we protect your data?
We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your data from unauthorised access, use, alteration or accidental loss or disclosure. Except as required by law, we limit access to your data to Seqrd personnel, agents, contractors or other third parties as detailed above and who have a business need to know. We demand that they only process your data on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality and protection.
We have put in place processes and procedures to respond to a suspected data breach and will notify you and the relevant authorities of a breach as required by law.
8. Your child’s privacy
The SchoolsMobile service provides security features that you may use, as a parent, guardian, or carer, to monitor your child’s online activity, or use of a registered, internet-connected device. Seqrd will always require parental consent to provide our service, and we do not use any data collected from your child’s device(s) (detailed above) for any purpose other than to deliver our service. By downloading our app on your child’s device, you consent to the use of our service on your child’s device and you confirm that you have the authority to provide consent on behalf of your child.
Our service also allows you to delete your child’s profile at any time. If you believe we have collected information from your child in error or have questions or concerns about our practices relating to children, please contact us as detailed at paragraph 2 above.
If you are under the age of 18, you must have your parent, carer, or guardian’s permission to access the SchoolsMobile service.
At Seqrd, we encourage all parents to instruct their children never to give out their real names, addresses or phone numbers to anyone without parent, carer or guardian permission.
9. No automated decision making
Automated decision making is where a computer makes a decision about an individual that has legal effect on that individual. We do not conduct any such automated decision-making.
11. Data retention
We only make use of your data for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purposes for which we collected it. You can request that we delete this information at any time.
To determine the appropriate retention period for data, we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of the data; the potential risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure of the data; the purposes for which we processed the data; whether we can achieve those purposes through other means; and, applicable legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, or other requirements.
11. Your legal rights
Under UK data protection laws, you have rights in relation to your or your child’s data, including, under certain circumstances, the following:
- Request access to your personal data;
- Request correction of your personal data;
- Request erasure of your personal data;
- Object to processing your personal data;
- Request restriction of processing your personal data;
- Request transfer of your personal data; and
- Right to withdraw consent.
